जबै बाण लागयो ॥ तबै रोस जागयो ॥

When the edge of the arrow touched my body, it kindled my resentment.

My mind is the yardstick, and my tongue is the scissors.

ਮਪਿ ਮਪਿ ਕਾਟਉ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੧॥

मपि मपि काटउ जम की फासी ॥१॥

I measure it out and cut off the noose of death. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਮਾਪ ਮਾਪ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਕਹਾ ਕਰਉ ਜਾਤੀ ਕਹ ਕਰਉ ਪਾਤੀ ॥

Kehaa Karo Jaathee Keh Karo Paathee ||

कहा करउ जाती कह करउ पाती ॥

What do I have to do with social status? What do I have to with ancestry?

ਮੈਂ ਜਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂ?

ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I shall not forsake, even for an instant, my Dear Beloved Lord, the Support of the breath of life.

ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੂਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਰ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਿਆਗਦੀ।
